In this 2 1/2 day "Hands-on" workshop you will learn all the theory, techniques and skills that will enable you to plan and build Straw-Bale buildings. The workshop leader will lead you through a step-by-step instruction on how to build a home from the slab to the roof and you will actually construct a small Straw-Bale structure on the workshop site. Through an integrated blend of audio-visual aids, architectural drawings, pictures, lectures, question and answer periods, demonstrations, hands-on experience, lots of fun and a visit to an actual Straw bale home you will leave the workshop with enough thorough knowledge and experience to build your own Strawbale structure! Andrew McKay: For the past nine years, Andrew Mckay has helped over 30 owners build their ecological dream homes, working on every detail from the footings to the roofs. He has extensive experience with straw bale and recycled foam wall systems, finished inside and out with thick sand-cement plaster. His intent is to empower inspired Do-It-Yourselfers, by sharing his expertise, knowledge and his experience of the strengths and struggles of many builders who have spent their energy working toward self-reliance.
