TRUE PURPOSE

February 18 -19

One of the Most Tragic Things We Do to Ourselves

There's one tendency in human nature that's responsible for much of our unhappiness and lack of success in life. I see it over and over again in peoples' relationships, careers and personal growth. It often deeply saddens me. It is called "Giving Up".

I often see people inspired, motivated and passionate at the beginning a project, following their inner their direction for a better life only to give up when barriers come up.
The tragedy is this...they often give up just before they are going to make a breakthrough. If they had only stuck with their course a little while longer they could have achieved what they wanted.

We often justify giving up with a number of inane rationalizations:
"Well I really didn't want it anyway"
"If it was meant to be I would have gotten what I wanted"
"The obstacle was a sign from God that I should abandon my goal"
"Anything that is meant to be, should come easy...that's how the universe works, right?"

Wrong.

There are two reasons for giving up:
1. We don't want to fail
2. We fear we don't have the ability to get what we want

Often times the fear of failure is greater than the anticipation of success. Do you know that the most successful people in the world have failed much more than unsuccessful people? Why ... because they see their failures as something else. They see these as temporary setbacks, as experiments that didn't work or feedback from the universe to try a different course...all of which to learn from.

Edison tried about 1000 different filaments when he was inventing the light bulb and with each one he took the point of view that he just eliminated another one that didn't work and he was just one more filament closer to success. Where would the world be if he'd given up? The light of our world would be dim.

Can we take this point of view and continue on when we feel like giving up? Try it on for size.

Secondly if we were confident that we had the ability to get what we want, we would not give up. We would continue. Why wouldn't we?

So the other problem then is about fearing we don't have what it takes to get what we want. And there is some truth to this... because we have used the energy that is in our own mind to create what is stopping us. So it is very difficult using our own energy to get through something that our own energy has created. So the solution is get more ability.

How do we do this? Well here's an interesting formula:

One person plus another can bring about a change.

In other words: add the energy of someone else (who is not in your mind) to your energy so that you have more energy to get over the barrier and get what you want.

This is just a fancy name for, "Get support".

Getting support means finding someone that is a success buddy or a group of people that can form a success support group with you or maybe hiring a counselor to get you through the barrier or a coach that can help strategize a path for you and keep you on track. Even better find a person that has been through what you are stuck in and been successful. These are the best helpers.

There is one proviso in this. You have to "Leggo of your Ego". Your ego will tell you that asking for help means you are somehow deficient, that there is something wrong with you that you need help and support. In fact it is your only your ego that is deficient, not you. It is that sense of pride that has kept you stuck. Just tell your ego to go the place where it is hot and fiery!

Others are the greatest blessings in life and the amazing thing is that most of them really want to help.

And if you are stuck in finding someone here's an offer for you.... I'll give you a free telephone 1/2 hour Clearing session to explore what it is that is stopping you in your life just for you telling your ego where to go!

Here's two more observations about giving up or persisting. If we give into the barrier and don't overcome it then we only add more energy to it  and reinforce the blockage and the next time it comes up it only gets harder to overcome. But the opposite is true if you face the obstacle and get through it. The next time it comes up in life its easier to get through. It's like riding a bike...you learn how to ride one and then you can ride them all.

The other thing is this...once you succeed at a goal you have developed an inner strength to maintain your level of success, because that ability that you developed turns out to be the same level of ability you need to maintain and stay at a higher level of attainment in your life. It is often the reason people who win lotteries end up blowing the money. They have not developed the capacity to keep the money in their life.

All the more reason for persisting when you think you are the end of your rope and taking that extra step. That rope turns out to be expandable once you pull on it.

When all else fails follow the one maxim that has helped me most in life; "Do it anyway". If you have said to yourself "this is the tenth time I have said that this is the last time" give it an 11th time.

And once again take me up on my offer. I've been where you are at. Find out more about Clearing here>>>Clearing<<<
